Internet marketing involves a wide array of different strategies, ideas, and tactics. Just as abundant are the terms used in Internet marketing. I put together a web glossary of terms to help demystify many of the common terms used in online marketing. Specifically I focused on terms and definitions that are relevant to local businesses and SMB’s.

Internet Marketing Dictionary Index:

Landing Page – Generally referred to as the page where web traffic is being directed to.

Link Bait – Content that sparks immediate interest that can induce people to want to linkback to the content on your website.

Link Building – The strategy involving seeking out other websites and getting them to provide a linkback to your website.

Link Juice – A term that is used to represent the innate value passed from an authority website to another website. This term is mainly considered abstract as there isn’t a defined value associated with it.

Local SEO (search engine optimization) – A specific type of online marketing that focuses on retail or geographically based businesses. The search engine optimization strategies for local businesses vary from standard search engine strategies since the target audience is much smaller and more specific.
